National Cooperative Bank Awards Four Employees with Annual Service Award

Arlington, VA (December 29, 2015) — National Cooperative Bank (NCB), a leading financial services company dedicated to serving cooperatives and socially responsible organizations nationwide, recently honored four employees for their dedication and service to nonprofit organizations. All recipients were given $1,000 checks for their respective organization.

Gloria Exum, Senior Vice President in NCB’s VA office was recognized for her service to Manna Ministries Community Development Corporation. The mission of Manna is to reach out educationally, economically and spiritually to the local Prince George’s County, MD community. Programs include low-cost youth summer camps, free workshops and seminars to include financial literacy, estate planning and blood pressure screening, an annual Law Day (free appointments with pro-bono attorneys), school backpack drives and holiday gift drive.

Ms. Exum has been involved with the organization since 2009 and is involved with almost every program with the nonprofit.

Erin Williams, Vice President in NCB’s VA office was honored for her work with FISH of Laurel. FISH is an all-volunteer organization in Prince George’s County, MD that serves homeless and low-income people. The organization operates entirely with private and public donations of food, financial, and volunteer assistance with the mission to feed the homeless and working poor in Laurel, MD area.

Ms. Williams serves as the President of FISH of Laurel and spends 15-20 hours per week volunteering in many capacities including reviewing contracts, paying invoices, meeting with clients, volunteer assignments and food pick up.

Krystal Hannah, Loan Specialist in NCB’s Ohio office was honored for her service to SOUL’D Out Ministries- through Carpenter’s House of Prayer Church of God. The organization serves as an outreach program to at- risk youth from the ages of 13-19. The goal is to change a life of a child by spending quality time, providing counseling services to children, and enrichment activities for families.

Ms. Hannah has been active in the program since 2012, meeting with underprivileged youth two days per week. She also prepares meals, provides counseling services and organizes outreach programs where children can participate in helping others.

Valerie Smart, Loan Servicing Specialist in NCB’s Ohio office was recognized for her extensive involvement with American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Clinton, County, Ohio. For over 14 years, Ms. Smart has been an active volunteer serving in many capacities. Most recently she served as the Marketing/ Publicity chair with the goal of generating community interest and involvement without incurring a lot of cost.

Relay for Life is a community event where everyone can participate (running or walk) in the fight against cancer.

As a Bank chartered to support cooperatives organizations nationwide, NCB’s commitment to service is extensive. NCB supports communities with financial contributions and with annual service days for employees. On a corporate level, its mission banking efforts of supporting underserved communities and cooperative expansion initiatives totaled more than $268.5 million in 2014.
