National Cooperative Bank Recognized Among the Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces in the Country

Arlington, VA (September 14, 2016) —National Cooperative Bank (NCB), a leading financial services company dedicated to serving cooperatives and socially responsible organizations nationwide, was recently recognized as one of the Best Adoption-Friendly Family Workplaces in America by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.

"We are honored to receive such an important recognition from the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption,” said Charles E. Snyder, President and CEO of NCB. “Our employees are the heart of the Bank, and we are proud to create an environment that allows them to flourish in both their professional and private lives.”

"The adoption benefit offered by National Cooperative Bank allowed my wife and I to develop our financial plan accordingly prior to our son's homecoming,” said John Holdsclaw, Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs.  “ Ten years later, we feel strongly that the assistance provided by NCB and proper planning laid the foundation for a successful transition once our son came home."

The Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces in America list includes the top 100 organizations that provide exceptional support to employees who adopt.  Rankings are based on the amount of financial assistance and paid leave for families who adopt, based on surveys completed by employers.

“We’re committed to dramatically increasing the number of adoptions from foster care and commend all employers who support families- especially those that grow their families through adoption,” said Rita Soronen, President and CEO of the Foundation.  We are so grateful to every company that has adoption-friendly benefits in place, and we’re honored to recognize them as an Adoption-Friendly Workplace.”

More than 100,000 children are available for adoption in U.S. foster care. Every year, more than 23,000 children in foster care age out of the system without families.  Companies and their employees interested in learning how to create or enhance an Adoption-Friendly Workplace can order the Foundation’s free kit at adoptionfriendlyworkplace.org.
