Store ownership dream comes true for Alaska couple
A community’s cherished hardware store survives as Glennallen Building Supply, with assistance from NCB.
In Glennallen, Alaska, 483 residents were concerned over the future of their True Value hardware store. The owner of the 18-year-old store was retiring and looking to sell the business. Ensuring its ongoing place in the community was a top priority for Glennallen’s residents. Cue locals Rhonda and Ernest Christian, who always dreamed of owning their own store.
To secure the financing necessary to make their dreams a reality and save a relished community staple, the Christians turned to National Cooperative Bank (NCB). The bank provided them with SBA financing to purchase the land, building and business assets. The Christians took over the True Value in 2014. Business is thriving and receiving strong support from the Glennallen community.
“Many thanks to the NCB team who helped us in making our dream come true,” say Ernest and Rhonda Christian, owners of Glennallen Building Supply. “The store is doing great, we are so pleased and forever grateful for the assistance we received from NCB. Thank you for being part of our dream!”
