Lace up your sneakers for CDF’s first hybrid Co-op 5k to help us raise funds for cooperative development. You have the option to participate on April 30 in person in Washington, DC at Hains Point, East Potomac Park or to run virtually anytime between April 23 and April 29. And this year, you’ll be running to honor a cooperative hero, Chuck Snyder.
Chuck was not only a cooperative champion, 2012 Hall of Fame inductee, longtime board member of CDF, but also an enthusiastic supporter and NCB team member of the Co-op 5k.
“Whether it was supporting an initiative to form a worker-owned home care cooperative in DC, cooperative organizing by Southern Black farmers, or efforts to encourage cooperatives to work together, Chuck was a supporter of the good cause,” said former CDF Executive Director Leslie Mead.
In his honor, CDF will recognize his work and contribution by incorporating the words he lived by into the Co-op 5k – “do well to do good.” CDF will use funds raised in Chuck’s honor through the race and other efforts to honor him by doing well to do good, especially for people and communities in need, as he did.
This year’s race is your co-op’s chance to outrun, out spirit, and out fundraise last year’s winners — CoBank, Neighboring Co-operators, and National Cooperative Bank. Whether you meet us in DC or run by yourself or with your friends, colleagues, or family at home, show your support for cooperative development!
To register individually, visit cdf.coop/co-op-5k. To register a team or to sponsor, contact Kirstie Boyette at kboyette@ncba.coop. Register by April 4 to be guaranteed a race t-shirt in your desired size.
About the Co-op 5k
The Co-op 5k is a fun, family friendly event held in the Spring. It serves as a major fundraiser for the Cooperative Development Foundation. Funds raised through the event support cooperative development nationwide and allow CDF’s Disaster Recovery Fund to continue without overhead costs allowing every dollar donated to the Fund to go out to cooperatives in need.
